Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryIRENE ADELE (GALVIN) HOGUE August 4, 1931 - August 29, 2000 The death of Mrs. Irene Adele Hogue at age 69 years, occurred on August 29, 2000 at Grace General Hospital, Winnipeg, MB, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. Adele is lovingly remembered by husband L.P. (Bud) Hogue; children, Elaine (Robert) Loney of Bedford, NS, and Gerald (Nancy) Hogue of Englewood, CO; grandchildren, Stephen Loney, Robert, Bradley, Daniel, Jeremy, and Hailey Hogue; two brothers, Sherwood (Marion) Galvin, of Elrose, SK, and Kevin Galvin (Betty York) of Marwayne, AB; one aunt Ruth Smith, of Kyle, SK, and one uncle Kevin (Nora) Galvin, of Co. Dublin, Ireland. Adele was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, James and Irene (Morrison) Galvin; and several aunts and uncles. Adele was born on August 4, 1931, at Tuberose, SK. After completing her high school education in Elrose, SK, Adele graduated from the Regina Grey Nuns Hospital School of Nursing in 1952, receiving the General Proficiency medal. As a registered nurse, she provided excellent nursing care to patients in Regina, Elrose, Eston, and Outlook hospitals. She married Bud in 1955, and they first lived on the farm near Sanctuary, SK, later moving to Elrose, where they raised their family. Adele resumed her career as a RN in 1974, working in Elrose, and later, at Wascana Rehab Centre, Regina. In 1984, Adele and Bud moved to Winnipeg from Swift Current, SK. Adeles community contributions included coordinating the Candystriper volunteers at Elrose Union Hospital, volunteer work at Deer Lodge (1984-1987), and enthusiastic participation in the Over 60 Club at St. Andrews Anglican Church, Winnipeg. She was a devoted Gran who took a passionate, caring, and fun loving role in all of her grandchildrens lives. A Service of Remembrance will be held on Friday, September 1 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Andrews Anglican Church, 2700 Portage Ave., Winnipeg, Rev. Canon Arthur N. Thompson officiating. Reception to follow. Interment of the cremated remains will take place in Swift Current, SK, at Memory Gardens Cemetery on Wednesday, September 6 at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow. Floral tributes gratefully declined. Memorial donations may be made to the Grace General Hospital Foundation Palliative Care Fund, 300 Booth Dr., Winnipeg, MB R3J 3M7; or to a charity of the donors choice.
