Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREV. ALLISTER ROSS MacIVER Rev. Allister Ross MacIver passed away at Deer Lodge Centre on August 29, 2000 at the age of 91 years. He was predeceased by his first wife Charlotte L. MacIver, April 29, 1986; his parents, Mabel and Neil MacIver and brothers, Neil, John and Stewart. He is survived by his wife Myrtle MacIver; his children, Harold (Lillian) MacIver, Margaret (Jerry) Hoppe and Judy MacIver; his grandchildren, Wendy MacIver and Kimberly (John) Roffey and great- grandchildren, Nate and Luke Roffey. "Mac" was born November 26, 1908 in Sydney, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He attended Mt. Allison University from 1927 - 1931, lettering in basketball, football, and hockey. He was presented with a special letter "A" in track. He ran a record in track that took years to surpass. He attended Pine Hill Divinity Collage from 1931 - 1934. His first Church was at Marion Bridge, Cape Breton. He married Charlotte Lockhart in 1934, remaining devoted to her until her passing from M.S. He enlisted and served over seas from 1940 - 1945 then pastored in Milltown, New Brunswick from 1945 - 1947 and rejoined the service in 1947. He was called to Winnipeg as the head A. F. Chaplain and as command Chaplain of Western Canada in 1952 until 1963 when he retired as a Wing Commander. From 1963 - 1966 he pastored at Westminster U.C. as well serving on the pastoral board. He was appointed to North Kildonan U.C. and built up the congregation and helped build a new church. He also served as a Padre at Deer Lodge Hospital from 1966 - 1982. In 1971 he received an honorary Doctorate from Pine Hill Divinity Collage. "Mac" was truly a unique man and will be greatly missed. The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 2, 2000 at 3:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with Rev. Colin Peterson officiating. A reception will be held following the service. Cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the M.S. Society, 4th Floor, 141 Bannatyne, R3B 0R3. In memory of Charlotte L.
