HELEN ARKSEY Sigurbjorg Helen Arksey, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 29, 2000. Born May 23, 1927, in Lundar, Man., the eldest daughter of Hjortur and Lauga Josephson. She grew up in the Otto District and received her education at the North Star school. She attended college in Winnipeg and was employed for over 25 years with the Manitoba Government as secretary to the director of fisheries. Helen was a modest, kind and quiet lady who was loved and respected by everyone. She devoted her life to her husband and son and was always ready to help the rest of the family when they needed her. Helen never complained and her requests were few. She received great pleasure from reading, listening to music, watching the humming birds, playing solitaire, and her greatest joy lately was the arrival of her granddaughter Brynn Leah. A caring, loving wife of 42 years to Encil, mother to Stephen Jon (Diane) and a very proud amma to Brynn. She will also be fondly remembered and sadly missed by her sister Yvonne (Dennis) nieces, Donna Hasinhoff, Lorna Olafson, Marie Alkana, Maxine Groom; nephew Ron Olafson and spouses; three great-nephews and three great-nieces. She also leaves to mourn her passing Encils sister Wilma (Bill) Nielson and brother Byron (Margaret), as well as many relatives and friends; predeceased by her parents; sister and brother-in-law Ethel and Stony Olafson and two brothers, Howard and Dorland. We wish to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Stonewall Hospital as well as the fire and EMS personnel. Funeral service will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall, Saturday, September 2, at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at the Warren Cemetery. Bev Ward will officiate. Honorary pallbearers, Jack Countryman and Travis Mirus - her "guardian angel." In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Logberg-Heimskringla, #650 - 5 Donald St., Winnipeg, Man., R3L 2T4, in Helens name. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of arrangements.
