GUSTAV (GUS) RUDOLPH RIEHL Our father, Gus Riehl passed away peacefully at the Stonewall and District Health Centre on Tuesday, August 29, 2000 at the age of 94 years. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary in 1984 and is survived by his children, Cathy and Leslie, as well as many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Gus was born on September 2, 1905 in Winnipeg and spent his early years in Libau working at Reicherts Store. He then met and married Mary Karanko and moved to Selkirk where he had many enjoyable years working as a carpenter and raising his family. After Marys death, Gus took up pencil drawing and proved to be an accomplished artist in his 80s. In addition to his drawing, he developed a passion for calligraphy. Our father was a good person who loved the simple things in life, his family, his dogs, Tyler and Branne, and his flowers and garden. A Celebration of Gus Life will be held on Saturday, September 2 at 10:30 a.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel, Selkirk. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to their home care workers, the staff at the Victoria Hospital I.C.U. Unit, and especially the doctors, nurses and staff at the Stonewall and District Health Centre.
