GRACE MARGARET HAMLIN Grace Margaret Hamlin passed away at the Portage District General Hospital on Wednesday, August 30, 2000, at the age of 91 years, after a short battle with cancer. Funeral service will be held at the St. Marys la Prairie Anglican Church, 36 2nd St., S.W., Portage la Prairie, on Saturday, September 2 at 1:30 p.m. Interment of the cremated remains will take place at a later date. Grace was predeceased by her husband Dr. George Hamlin on August 12, 1982. She is survived by her daughter Mary Lou Curry, husband Frank Curry, their two sons, Dr. John Curry of Berkeley, CA and David Curry of Toronto; her son Robert Hamlin and wife Bonnie of Warren and their four daughters, Treva, Cindy, both of Winnipeg, Sandy of Edmonton and Jennifer of Calgary. Also surviving are her sister Isabel Panting of Victoria and stepsister Joan Beattie of Sidney; sister-in-law Josephine Hamlin of Toronto; as well as nieces and nephews in Vancouver and Toronto. She will be remembered by her many close friends in Portage and those who have retired and moved from Portage and still keep in touch via the many Christmas newsletters and phone calls. Grace was an active volunteer in the Portage Arts Council, the Portage Library, the Womens Council, the Dorcas Society and Ladies Hospital Auxiliary. She loved her cottage and times on the beach at Delta and particularly to watch the setting sun. In our busy lives we do not always get to watch the setting sun but when we do we think of the grace that Grace brought to our lives and to those whom she leaves behind to develop another era. A special thank you to all the friends who enriched Graces life with their visits and calls over the past years. The family greatly appreciates the kind efforts of the staff at the hospital to comfort Grace through her last time here on earth. Should friends so desire memorial donations may be made to the Central Plains Cancer Care Services, 318 Saskatchewan Ave., E., Portage la Prairie, MB R1N 0K8. The Omega Funeral Home is in care of the arrangements. Visit our website at www.legacy.com "Where life stories live on"
