RUTH DANSEREAU (nee RAINCOCK) Ruth Agnes left this world quietly and easily on August 3, 2000, with her family at her side, after four days in the Pine Falls Hospital. She lived independently at the Pineview Lodge seniors residence, with the assistance of the Pine Falls Health Complex Services, family, friends and clergy. Ruth was the seventh of ten children born on February 6, 1907, to Laurence and Adelaide Raincock on their Lakeland, MB homestead north of Portage la Prairie near Langruth. She boarded in Winnipeg after the eighth grade in her country school. By the age of 20 years, Ruth moved to Pine Falls where she lived ever since. She was employed at the Mercantile Store (later Hudson Bay Co.) prior to her marriage and part-time later for several years. In 1996, Ruth was predeceased by her loving husband Maurice. Remaining to cherish her memory is her only child Wayne (Grace) of Winnipeg, granddaughter Lisette (Brad Cook) and with them, two great-grandsons, Scotland and Spencer of Winnipeg, grandson Vincent (Pauline Wong) of Calgary, AB, sister Sybil (Alan Magnusson) of Richmond, BC, and sister Marjorie Moffatt of Winnipeg. Also remaining are two sisters-in-law, Gladys Isfeld of Portage la Prairie and Anne Dansereau of Red Lake, ON. Ruth was predeceased by a few nephews and nieces, but many remain throughout Canada and the United States. She was a Grand Matriarch and kept constant contact with all her family as well as with many friends. Ruth had a keen interest in medical research and advancement because, at the age of 12 years, she lost her mother to diabetes just prior to the availability of insulin. She had asthma throughout her own life. In early retirement, she helped deliver Meals on Wheels and was involved in the initial and ongoing fund raising for her nursing home, Sunnywood Manor. She was always involved with her church. A memorial service for Ruth will be held Saturday, September 9 at 2:00 p.m. in the Anglican Church of the Advent, Pine Falls, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Sunnywood Manor at the Pine Falls Health Complex or a health area of your own choice. We will miss our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie and friend, but we are all glad she left when ready with such ease after a well-lived long life. Ruth leaves in love and peace and with many special memories for us to treasure.
