Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryFLORENCE WINNIFRED BOWDEN March 28, 1920 - August 31, 2000 Florence passed away peacefully in her sleep on August 31, 2000 at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 80 years. She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 59 years, Bill; her sons, Bryan (Darlene), Clare (Doreen) and her daughter Ardith (Barry Bolander) grandchildren, Marny (Keith Dyck), Trevor (Shannon), Carrie, Rodney (Colleen), Stacey, Michael and great-grandson Nathan Dyck. Florence was predeceased by her parents, George and Elsie Booker; her sister Gertie McArthur and her brothers, Leslie, Albert, Verne, Roy, Eldon and Wilbur Booker. She is survived by her sister Violet Hillman; brothers, Clarence and Jack (Velma) Booker; sisters-in-law, Elyda Booker and Lillian Booker and many nieces and nephews. Florence was born and raised in Snowflake, Manitoba. On June 21, 1941 she married Bill and they lived on their farm in Snowflake where Florences life centered around family and the community. Her many activities included gardening, baking, canning, many sports and the church. In 1966, they moved to Winnipeg where Florence began a 20 year career in the China Department at Eatons where she enjoyed working with and collecting beautiful china. In retirement, Florence and Bill enjoyed travel to Hawaii and bus tours throughout Canada and the United States. Florence was a member of Westminister United Church and the U.C.W. Florence will be remembered for her ready smile, cheerful disposition and sociable personality. In recent years, Florence dealt with her brain tumour with the same positive attitude as she lived her life. The family would like to thank the staff of Riverview Health Centre for the gracious care given to Florence during her stay at Riverview. Funeral services will be be conducted by Rev. Robert Campbell and Pastoral Associate Rose Ferries on Tuesday, September 5, at 12:30 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with viewing one-half hour prior. Interment and reception to follow. Pallbearers will be Trevor and Rodney Bowden, Keith Dyck, Greg, Leslie and Mark Booker. In lieu of flowers, as expressions of sympathy, donations in Florences memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Street, Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7.
