Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDWARD DELMONTE 1928 - 2000 Edward, beloved husband of Gerri passed away suddenly of a heart attack at the Concordia Hospital on September 1, 2000 at the age of 72 years. He was predeceased by his parents. Edward is survived by his wife Gerri; his daughter Lydia and son-in-law Jack Van Dam; son Edward Jr. and daughter-in-law Karen; as well as his dearly loved grandchildren, Eric, Nicholas, Kristin and Melissa. He is also survived by his brother Maurice and his wife Lidy of the Netherlands. Edward was born in Haarlem, Netherlands. He immigrated to Canada in 1952 and married his wife Gerri that same year in Brandon. They made their home in Brandon for two years and then settled in Winnipeg. Prior to his retirement in 1991, Edward had been employed with Canada Safeway. Eds hobbies and interests included sailing, oil painting, gardening, his fish ponds, travelling and especially his many trips to Holland. He was also a member of the Canadian Dutch Club. Ed was dedicated and devoted to his family and was especially fond of his grandchildren. He will also be remembered for his sense of humour. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place and his ashes will be spread on the lake where he spent his boyhood years and learned to sail. A Memorial service will be held in Green Acres Funeral Chapel, Hwy #1 East at Green Acres Lane on Tuesday, September 5 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Michael Boulger officiating.
