KENNING After a long and courageous battle with cancer, Jack passed away peacefully on Friday, September 1, 2000, with his family at his side, at Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital in Stonewall, MB, at the age of 42 years. He will be sadly missed by his children, Toni, Amanda and Tyler; his loving mother Elsie Kenning; sisters, Marilyn and brother-in-law Al Jones, Peggy and brother-in-law Gary Fontaine; brother Gary Kenning; nephews and nieces, Jason and Chad Jones, Fawn, Tessa, Cheri and Rena Kenning, Erin, Brett and Dennis Fontaine; special friend Mary Giesbrecht; his childrens mother Julie; a large extended family and many good friends, all of whom provided constant encouragement and supported Jacks tremendous will to overcome his disease over the last eight years, all the while maintaining his sense of humour and good-natured attitude. He was predeceased by his father Jake and infant brother Rodney. Jack was born in Stonewall on November 5, 1957 and lived his entire life in the Stonewall area. He made many friends during his career as an owner-operator in the trucking industry, the majority of those years with Gardewine North. Jack was well-known at the many Show & Shines he attended with his beautifully restored vehicles. His most precious times were those spent with his children. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 6 at 2:30 p.m. in the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall. Rev. Mary Best will officiate. The service will conclude at the chapel. Our family would like to thank the wonderful Home Care team and staff of the Stonewall Hospital for the compassion and devotion shown to Jack during his long illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital Fund, Stonewall. MacKenzie Funeral Home Stonewall in care of the arrangements.
