MILDRED EVELYN BJORNSSON (nee GORBY) Evelyn passed away quietly during the early hours of Saturday, September 2, 2000 at the age of 90 having spent her last hours with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her husband Mindy in 1984 and by her brother Bob in 1989. The memory of her presence here will be forever cherished by her children, Lynn (Dan) Rodrigues; son Don Bjornsson; grandchildren, John (Eileen) Rodrigues, Joseph (Donna) Rodrigues, Christopher, Geoffrey and Birgitta Bjornsson; five great-grandchildren; one sister Jean (Gordon) Nicholson; together with her many other relatives and friends. Born and raised in Dauphin, Man., Evelyn became a longtime resident of East Kildonan in Winnipeg. She had retired from work at Province of Manitoba, Old Age Assistance department where she had enjoyed the camaraderie of her fellow employees. Also, she greatly enjoyed the company of her neighbours and of her friends in the East Kildonan Kiwanis Club and crafts group at Rossmere. A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 8 at 12:30 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. following which there will be a reception at 27 Beaverbend Crescent, St. James. In lieu of flowers, donations in Evelyns memory may be made to the Palliative Care Endowment Fund at St. Boniface General Hospital, Room D1003, 409 Tache Ave., Winnipeg, MB R2H 2A6. The family would especially like to thank Dr. Mark Taylor for his competence and concern, as well as the Doctors, Nurses and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital in the Palliative Care Unit and on the surgical ward.
