GUNHILD NELSON (nee ANDERSON) 1911 - 2000 On Saturday, September 2, 2000, Gunhild passed away at her home in Whitemouth, Man. at the age of 89. Gunhild was born on February 14, 1911 in Whitemouth, Man. She leaves to mourn her only son Leonard Clarence Nelson of California. She was predeceased by her husband Harry in 1972. Gunhild is also survived by her brothers, and sister, Tom of Kinistino, Sask., Hubert (Emma) of Santa Cruz, Calif., Arne (Edna) of Sun City, Calif., Doris Schubert of Edmonton, Alta., Holger (June) of Winnipeg, Man., Leonard (Shirley) of Winnipeg; and many nieces and nephews. Gunhild loved her birthplace of Whitemouth and was very involved in her community until her stroke in 1978. She was happy to do whatever she could at Ross United Church, be it cleaning or lighting the fire on cold winter Sunday mornings, as well as teaching Sunday School for many years. She worked with the children in the 4H Club as a dedicated leader until her illness. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, at 11:00 a.m. at Ross United Church, Whitemouth, with Rev. Jim Webb officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects prior to the service. Interment will take place at St. Vital Cemetery, Winnipeg, on Friday, September 8 at 2:30 p.m. Pallbearers will be her family. The family would like to give special thanks to Gunhilds homecare workers, Helen, Wilma, Gladys, Val and Debbie and her private care givers, Jean and Lorraine, for their kindness over the years. A special thank you to the train crews and employees of the C.P.R. for the special attention given to Mrs. Nelson. Instead of flowers, a donation in Gunhilds memory may be made to a charity of your choice or Ross United Church, would be gratefully appreciated.
