BOYD On September 5, 2000 at the Selkirk General Hospital Marvel Boyd passed quietly and with dignity from this life into the ever loving arms of God. Born December 6, 1906 to Joshua and Julia Rothwell in the Victoria district, Marvel was the second youngest of a family of 11. To grieve her passing she leaves one sister Edith Dorrian; one sister-in-law Ellen Rothwell; her daughter Jean (Leslie) deLaroque; her son Robert (Lorraine) Boyd; seven grandchildren, Fred (Beth) deLaroque, Howard (Heather) Boyd, Rod (Barbara) deLaroque, James Boyd, Kathy (Luke) Hueging, Valerie (Norman) Blagden, and Roberta (Larry) Willits; 18 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Marvel lived the major part of her life in the Argyle-Woodlands area. For 44 years she and her husband Fred farmed at Argyle. They then retired to Woodlands. Following Freds death in 1985, Marvel continued to live in Woodlands for a time. She later moved in with her daughter Jean and most recently she was a resident of Red River Place in Selkirk. Marvel was a lifelong member of the Anglican Church and was an avid horticultural supporter. She loved her flowers, she loved her reading, she loved her family, she loved her God and into His arms we commend her. The funeral conducted by The Rev. S. Sharman will take place Friday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Georges Church, Woodlands. Interment will follow in St. Oswalds Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Luke Hueging, Larry Willits, Howard Boyd. Fred deLaroque, Rod deLaroque and Norm Blagden. James Boyd will play the organ. All are invited to a time of fellowship at the Legion Hall in Woodlands. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Georges Anglican Church, Woodlands. MacKenzie Funeral Home, Stonewall in care of the arrangements.
