DOROTHY ELIZABETH WAUGH (nee WILTON) January 29, 1918 - September 5, 2000 After a courageous battle, with her family by her side, in the Deer Lodge Centre, Mom peacefully passed away on September 5, 2000, at the age of 82. Dorothy leaves her children, Mona (Don) Halls of Brandon, MB, Barb (Barry) Marko of Guelph, ON, Mary (Dana) Carlson of Edmonton, AB and Deb Waugh (Dan Veitch) of Winnipeg, daughter-in-law Glenda Waugh of Winnipeg; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Ed in 1984; parents, Thomas and Mona Wilton; brothers, Lloyd and Jack; and her sisters, Alice and Irene. Born in 1918 in Carmen, MB, Dorothy grew up on the family farm, then moved to Winnipeg after high school for her nursing training. During this time she met and married George. After Georges discharge at the end of the Second World War, they settled in Winnipeg where they raised their family. Mom put her nursing career on hold to be at home and raise her family, re-entering the profession in 1971, working at the Princess Elizabeth Hospital until her retirement. Family was always Moms number one priority but a close second came her love for sports. She loved riding her horses growing up on the farm, then in Winnipeg she became an avid curler and golfer at the Wildewood Club, where she developed many close lifelong friendships. Moms kitchen was always the centre of the family get-togethers with her chocolate chip cookies always ready for the grandkids attack. Mom lived her life putting others needs before her own with an incredible positive outlook even during tough times. She was a pillar of strength for us and we will all miss her for that. The family would like to thank the countless number of people involved in her care for the last few years, with a special thank you to "Dr. Scott" Young whose care, compassion and dedication to Mom was outstanding. A memorial service will be held at the Fort Garry United Church, 800 Point Rd., Friday, September 8 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Dorothys memory to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba, 301-352 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 2H8 or to a charity of ones choice. We will miss you Mom, but we know that youre in good hands with Ed and hell work with you on sharpening up that golf swing. Good Show! THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
