CLARENCE E. RYDBERG After a long and courageous battle, Clarence E. Rydberg passed away peacefully on Monday, September 4, 2000, with his family by his side, at Deer Lodge Hospital. Clarence will be lovingly remembered by his wife Polly of 35 years, daughter Jacqueline (Darryl) Yeo, daughter Vicki (Doug) Bellamy of Calgary, AB, daughter Kathy Mcdonald, son Merrill (Kathy) Helpard of Calgary, daughter Linda McVicar, daughter Janet Hardy of Wildewood, AB. Also will be missed by Debbie, Rick, and Donagayle. He is survived by brother Glen (Betty-Anne) Rydberg of Marathon, ON, brother Alvin (Marsha) Rydberg of Atikokan, ON, sister Leone (Baldur) Johansson of Taber, AB; along with 17 grandchildren and 14 great-grand-children and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was predeceased by his brother Leonard in 1927, son-in-law Bud McVicar in 1981. Clarence was born July 26, 1928, in Benito, MB, to Edwin and Karin Rydberg, where he grew up until moving to Grandview in 1942 to work in the grain elevators with his father. In 1953 he joined the services with the Engineer Core and then moved to Winnipeg to settle. After he retired from 17 years with the service, he joined the D.N.D. in 1970, working as a civil servant in food services until 1993 when he retired at the age of 65. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Friday, September 8 at 10:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre. The family extends great appreciation to the staff at Deer Lodge Hospital (W-5) and the Health Sciences Centre Rehab Ward for their care. In lieu of flowers, friends and family may donate in Clarencess memory to The Kidney Foundation of Canada, 200 - 55 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 1L8, phone 989-0800.
