BERNIE COYSTON Peacefully, on September 4, 2000, surrounded by his family, Bernie passed away after a long and courageous battle with heart disease. His determination, courage and humour will be long remembered. Bernie is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Rita; his son Chris (Karen) daughter Janice (Chris) and grandchildren, Charlene, Greg, Dan and Jacky. He is also survived by his brothers Ralph (Elva), Garth (Louise), Vic (Gail) sisters, Peggy (Claude) Murphy, Dorothy Clermont, Joyce (Dale) Murray, Lynn (Dave) Richardson; sister-in-law Kay, and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his daughter, Claire; parents, George and Florence; brothers, Leo, Maurice, Art and sister Claire. Bernie was born August 19, 1921 and was raised in Winnipeg. He served with the RCAF from 1942-1945. He was employed by Hignell Printing and retired as Production Manager after 37 years of employment. He was a founding member and trustee of Christ the King Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Bernie enjoyed travelling, photography and golf. He spent many happy summers at the lake and winters in Palm Springs. Our family wishes to express sincere appreciation to the many health care professionals who cared for Bernie with compassion and devotion for the past few years. A special thank you to Drs. Claude Murphy, Hugh Smith and Mila Gabriel. A Mass of the Resurrection will take place on September 7, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ the King Church, 547 St. Marys Rd. Interment of the cremated remains will follow at Green Acres Memorial Gardens, Highway #1 East, Fermor and Navin Rd. Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to Desjardins Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers and would very much appreciate donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. Desjardins Funeral Chapel in care of arrangements, 233-4949.
