Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEMIL KOZAK September 4, 1918- September 4, 2000 Emil Kozak passed away peacefully on his 82nd birthday with his family at his side, at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern after a short illness. Emil received his education and graduated from the Byng School. Emil was born at the Kozak homestead on September 4, 1918, the ninth child to Bazyl and Katherine. The Kozak family moved from Rivers to the homestead at Gypsumville. After their father passed away Joseph and Emil took up the family farm until the fall of 2000. He served in the Second World War from 1940 to 1945 in various locations throughout Manitoba. He was a commercial fisherman and cut pulp. He milked cows for numerous years and beef farmed until his death. He took great care for his hereford cattle, chickens, and his dogs. He was an excellent gardener and took great pride in it. He enjoyed picking berries and mushrooms. Emil is survived by his loving sisters-in-law, Elsie Kozak of Gypsumville, Julia Kozak of Edmonton, Sophie Wasilka (Kozak) of Oakburn and Marion Kozak of Winnipeg; nieces, Ann Dunn, Kay Favelle and Lou Favelle of Vancouver, Irene (Bill) Murray of Collingwood, Roma (Len) Makkreel of Brantford; nephews, Edward (Marion) Manchul of Toronto, Bill (Norma) Gray of Kenton, MB, Charles (Barbara) Kozak, Ken (Pat) Kozak of Edmonton, Bill Kozak of Bissett, along with additional nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great-nieces and nephews and many good friends. He was predeceased by his mother in 1934, his father in 1946; sisters, Katherine Daniels in 1982, Annie Manchul in 1989, Eva Syrotiuk in 1974, Polly Favelle in 1984, Mary MacDonald (Gray) in 1994; brothers, Nick in 1968, John in 1971, Mike in 1988 and Joseph in 1998; brothers-in-law, Adam Daniels, Peter Manchul, Austin Gray and Alex Syrotiuk; nephews, Walter Daniels in 1984, Dr. Daniels in 1985 and a niece Frances Johanson. Friends and relatives may pay their respects between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 8, at the Arnason Funeral Home in Ashern. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 9, at the Gypsumville Memorial Hall with Ardath Fritz, Tom Young and Harvey Purves officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service in the hall. Interment to follow in the Gypsumville Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mike Buhay, Daniel MacDonald, Clare Morrow, Ray Forester, Bill Gray and Nick Halaburda. Honorary pallbearers will be all the friends from the Byng School District. In lieu of flowers, donations in Emils memory may be made to the Lakeshore General Hospital Guild in care of Runa Mangl, Box 591, Ashern, Man., R0C 0E0. Arrangements by Arnason Funeral Home Ltd.
