Edith was born in Sandy Point, St. Georges Bay, NFLD on December 6, 1906, one of nine children, and grew up in a very happy household. While in Winnipeg, Edith met and married the true love of her life, Sam - a dashing lad from Ireland. They enjoyed 50 loving years of marriage until his demise in 1979. In the early years, mother sewed, knitted and crocheted for herself, Sam and their five daughters. Later, she joined the Queen Esther Rebekah Lodge; was also the Past Mistress of the Ladies Orange Benevolent Association #707 and the Dan Winters Social Club. Edith was an active member of the A.C.W. of the St. Johns Cathedral Anglican Church and contributed generously to the tea and bazaars for many years, making numerous friends until due to her illness, she was unable to attend. Ediths daughters would like to thank their sister, "Dodo" and her husband Ernie for all the kindness and care they gave Mother in the last 21 years, which allowed her to stay in her own home until she became a resident of the Maples Personal Care Home two years ago.
