SYLVIA BESSIE SILVERMAN It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving mother, grandmother and friend Sylvia Bessie Silverman on Saturday, August 12, 2000 at the age of 88, following a lengthy illness. Sylvia was predeceased by her parents, Mary and Joseph Granovsky and her brother Dr. Sidney Granove. Sylvia will be deeply missed by her son Howard Dixon; her daughter Laureen (Jack) and grandsons, Joshua, Michael and Steven Bleet of Minneapolis; sister Lil (Morris) Rodin; sister Ettie (Albert) Rosen, plus her many nieces and nephews. Sylvia was born in Winnipeg. Her two children were the focus of her life. Sylvia had a strong identification with Jewish culture, values, tradition and music. She was a member of the Jewish Womens Musical Club, Pioneer Women, Rosh Pina Sisterhood and the Gwen Sector Living Center. Her kindness was reflected in her warm, loving nature and her wonderful smile. Funeral services were held on Monday, August 14 at the Beth Isreal Cemetery. Rabbi A. Altein, in his kindness, officiated. Pallbearers were Jack, Joshua and Michael Bleet, Stephen Rodin, Alvin Yaren and Earl Ashkin. We thank the Lubavitch Centre for the kindness shown in our time of grief. Donations in Sylvias memory may be made to the Lubavitch Centre, 2091 Sinclair, R2V 3K2.
