Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN R. PENNER 1912 - 2000 On Thursday, September 7, 2000, at his residence, John R. Penner, 88 years, of Winkler, formerly of the Plum Coulee District went to his eternal rest. John was a well-known and appreciated GVSD bus driver from 1967 to 1979. He received a 4-H Leadership award in 1964. He appreciated his Bible Study group with Rev. Ed Plett at Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church and was very proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and talked of them often. He leaves to mourn his passing his three sons, George and Peggy Penner of Morden, Ernie and Anne Penner of Winnipeg, John and Betsy Penner of Saskatoon; three daughters, Mari Anna and Jack Elias of Steinbach, Betty and Alvin Penner of Winkler, Susie and Art Kehler of Winnipeg; one daughter-in-law Eva (Jake) Penner of Winkler; 18 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Braun of Winkler, Mary Unger of Winkler, Susie Dyck of Paraguay. He was predeceased by wife Anna Penner (nee Kroeker) in 1997; and one son Jake Penner in 1994. Public viewing will be held at Wiebe Funeral Home, 121 - 8th St., Winkler on Saturday, September 9, from 1:00 to 9:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 10 from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church prior to the funeral. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Winkler Bergthaler Mennonite Church (6th and Mountain) with Rev. John P. Klassen and Rev. Ed Plett officiating. Interment will follow at the Winkler Cemetery. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Bergthaler Church Building Fund, available at the church.
