GORDON SMITH On Wednesday, September 6, 2000 at the Morris General Hospital, Mr. Gordon Smith, beloved husband of the late Doris Elizabeth (nee McClelland) of Emerson, passed away at the age of 89 years. He leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Brian (Sandra) of Emerson, Lyall (Linda) of Brandon, Barry (Shirley) of Winnipeg; nine grandchildren, David, Diane, Kristin (Steve) Arnold, Justin, Kelly, Kerri, Jeff, Jennifer, Stacey; three great-grandchildren, Matthew, Alexandra, Sydney; one sister Gladys Dewar of Winnipeg, many relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Francis and Mary Ann Smith; wife Doris in 1981; two brothers, Willie and Clifford. He married Doris (McClelland) on November 4, 1937. They resided in Emerson where he farmed all of his life. He loved working the land and enjoyed his independence. He was a dedicated husband and father. He was proud of his three sons and was greatly loved and respected by his grandchildren. He served on various committees including the Dufferin School Board, Emerson Agricultural Society and 4-H. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 11 at 11:00 a.m. at the Emerson United Church with Rev. Lesley Calder officiating. Interment will follow at the Lakeside Cemetery, north of Emerson. Viewing will be held at the church prior to the service. If friends so desire donations may be made in his memory to the Emerson United Church Fund.
