EDWARD MALYK Edward Malyk, beloved husband of Nora, passed away peacefully at the Pinawa Hospital on Monday, September 4, 2000 at the age of 86 years. Ed was born in the Brokenhead Municipality on June 14, 1914. He grew up in Brightstone, MB and attended school there. He served in the Canadian Army for several years. He worked for the Manitoba Government Air Service for 31 years until his retirement in 1979. Ed and Nora were married December 24, 1955. They spent about 15 years wintering in Texas which they enjoyed immensely. His grandchildren will always remember the wonderful summer vacations they spent with Nanny and Grandpa going across Canada in their trailer. Ed was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Alex and Dan. He is survived by his wife Nora; son Bruce (Deborah) daughter Blythe Hirst (Glen) grandchildren, Matthew, Calvin (Sheri), Grant (Kathy), Shannon (Randy) and great-grandchildren, Anthony, Alia, Austin, Nicholas and Dane; a sister Anne Hopko and her family. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, September 13 at 2:00 p.m. in the St. Johns Anglican Church, Lac du Bonnet, MB. Pastor Kolleen Karlowsky officiating. Cremation has taken place. Service will terminate at the church. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway Ave. Winnipeg, MB. R3C OS6. The family would like to thank Dr. Haggard and the nurses at the Pinawa Hospital and also doctors and nurses at St. Boniface Hospital for all their care and compassion.
