Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMAN PETER OSCAR HANSON September 23, 1937- September 5, 2000 It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother. Norman was born in Roblin, Man., the third child and only son of Philip and Rose Hanson. He took his schooling in Roblin and farmed with his dad until his marriage to Barbara Black on September 19, 1960. They started their life together in Lynn Lake, Man., where Norman was employed by Sherritt Gordon Mines. The "Lynn Lake Years" were happy years. His three sons were born there and his baby girl arrived there. He enjoyed his home, his family, friends and the outdoors, especially the lakes. Norman was active in the community and was proud to have served with the Sea Cadets, Navy League and the Navy League Committee. He was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 236. He had many happy memories of the years he spent as chairman of the Bingo Committee and close association with the Legion family. When the mine closed, Norman took a position as caretaker at Monash Manor Apts., where he worked until ill health forced his retirement in 1999. Norman was predeceased by his father in 1972 and his mother in 1999. Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Barbara; his sons, Don (Lil) and Brad (Sheri) of Fort Saskatchewan, Ab and Randy of Ridgeville, Man., and his daughter Lori (Wade) Podaima of Winnipeg. Also left to mourn are his three sisters, Rosella (Jim) Nofield of New Westminster, B.C., Esther Riffel of Armstrong, B.C., and Norma (Ken) Buchy of Virden, Man., as well as his 12 grandchildren. A service of remembrance was held in Neil Bardal Funeral Home on Friday, September 8, and Norman will be laid to rest in Roblin District Cemetery after a funeral service there on September 10. Pallbearers were his three sons, Don, Randy and Brad Hanson; John Lincoln, Daryl Cockerill and Dave Rankin. Nairn-Chyz Funeral Home of Roblin was in care of all arrangements. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Dr. Crawford, Dr. Lezack and the staff at Seven Oaks Hospital for the excellent care given Norman. A special thank-you to the nurses in the hospital and in Oncology. In lieu of flowers, donations in Normans memory may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Treatment & Research Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Winnipeg, Man., R3E 9Z9.
