GAYE HALFORD Peacefully, surrounded and guarded over by loved ones, Gaye Halford passed away September 9, 2000, in the place that meant the most to her-her home. Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend will be deeply missed but will remain forever amongst her husband Dennis; sons, Marc and Kyle; daughters-in-law, Bonnie and Ana Maria; granddaughter Kyra; sister Emily (Erv) Hilliard and family; brother Allan (Shirley) Bogash and family; her loving pet Zack; her close friends, Carol, Jim, and Arnie, who comforted her during the last stages of her earthly journey, as well as her many other dear, dear friends. Gaye was predeceased by her parents, Alex and Nellie Bogash; her brother Joey and her never forgotten son Kevin. Gaye was born in Flin Flon, MB, but left at 18 for the bright lights of Winnipeg. Throughout her life, Gaye made special effort to ensure her immediate and extended family remained close together. Gaye loved crafts and team sports. She had a special talent for quilt making, participated in the first ever Canada Winter Games, in Quebec City, in 1967, was twice named to the Manitoba Basketball Hall of Fame, and loved to be on a curling sheet at the Heather Curling Club or, more recently, at Niakwa Golf Course amongst friends. Through her position at the Manitoba Sports Directive she was involved in many of the inter-provincial games-in particular an event in Brandon where she was closely involved with Manitobas 18 and under Youth Baseball Team. In keeping with Gayes wishes for cremation, a Funeral Service to celebrate how Gaye touched all of our lives will be held on Tuesday, September 12 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Bernadette Parish Centre, 820 Cottonwood Rd. Officiated by Father Fred Olds. The family would like to give special thanks to Doctor Maxwell and the many compassionate nurses in the Oncology Department at the Victoria General Hospital. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Gayes memory to Victoria Hospital Oncology Building Fund, 2340 Pembina Hwy, Winnipeg, MB R3T 2E8. Arrangements entrusted to: CHAPEL LAWN FUNERAL HOME CEMETERY AND CREMATORIUM 885-9715
