Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHAROLD WILLIAM BROWN Harold William Brown passed away quietly at the Grace General Hospital on Tuesday, August 22, 2000. He is survived by his wife Bridget; daughter Valerie and her husband Ronald; son Douglas and his wife Nancy; grandchildren, John, Timothy (Monique), Julie (Rob Delorme), Heidi, Brian (Kelly) and Donna; great-grandchildren, Jason, Jillian, Gillian, Jennifer, Jessica and JoAnne. Also Nephew Peter Stewart-Hay and family; niece Dr. Joan Stewart-Hay and husband, Han Van den Heuvel. Harold was predeceased by his first wife Edith in 1972 and his parents, John and Margaret Ann; sister Edith (Bunny) Stewart-Hay. Born in Winnipeg December 1, 1905 he attended Kelvin High School and the University of Manitoba where he achieved his Chartered Accountants degree and received the Silver Medal. He was employed for many years by Gaults Ltd. (Gaulco) where in 1971 he became President and from 1972 to 1975 Chairman of the Board retiring in 1976. Since retiring Harold was active in many senior activities including the Centennial and Pan Am Swim Clubs, K40, Winnipeg Art Gallery, Granite and Senators Curling Clubs. He was also involved in the Y.M.C.A, Winnipeg Football Club and the Royal Lake of the Woods Yacht Club. He was a dedicated member of the Shriners Oriental Band of which he became President in 1967. Harold enjoyed his summers at his home on Coney Island as well as extensive travel to many countries. His leisure time was filled with hobbies of watercolor painting, furniture refinishing, sailing and kayaking. He was a great reader and wrote numerous articles for the Manitoba Seniors Journal and Seniors Today. Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday, September 14 at 4:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1501 Waverley St. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Harolds memory to the Rehabilitation Centre for Children, 633 Wellington Avenue, Winnipeg, MB., R3M OA8, or to a charity of ones choice.
