MARY RITCHOT (nee DESLAURIER) Peacefully on Saturday, September 9, 2000 at the Victoria General Hospital in her 97th year. Our dear mother and grandmother was called by our Lord. Mary was born in Starbuck, MB on March 27, 1903. She was predeceased by her husband George in 1988; children, Albert and Lorraine both in their infancy and her older son Gustave in 1987. She leaves to mourn her daughters, Elizabeth of Vancouver, Lucille (Len) Gurr, Jeanette (Ted) Jurkowski of Winnipeg, Lorraine (Frank) Betts of Calgary; one son Maurice Ritchot of Winnipeg and daughter-in-law Laura Ritchot of Nanaimo, BC. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Mary was married on November 15, 1922 to George Ritchot, a loving faithful relationship that lasted 65 years until his death. Together they raised their family in the Catholic faith in Laurier, MB, later moving to Winnipeg in 1948. Mom was a dedicated mother and grandmother who was always there to listen. Living and practising her faith was of utmost importance to her. Moms best times were spent with her children and grandchildren. Playing cards especially Rummoli was her favourite pastime.
