His loving wife Bertha of 69 years of marriage held his hand along with his family as he ascended into heaven. Nicholas will be missed sadly but remembered lovingly by his family. In 1931 he married Bertha and they farmed in Cloverleaf, Man. until they came to Winnipeg. In 1937 he was employed by the Fort Garry Hotel as a cook and retired after 35 years of service. He was an active member of the St. Vladymir and Olga Cathedral in the late 50s. He was a highly religious man, a devoted husband, father and grandfather who always put his family first. He enjoyed gardening and home carpentry along with many other pastimes. He was unique in that he never attained a drivers license and instead his transportation through his entire life until the age of 86 was his bicycle. He became a resident at the St. Josephs Nursing Home in October 1999. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nurses and staff for their wonderful care.
