Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryRUTH SPAK (nee GERTZ) 1923 - 2000 With her family at her side, we are sad to announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, on Saturday, September 9, 2000. Ruth will be sadly missed by her children Gary (Judie), Terry (Alison), John, Kevin, daughter Lisa (Lawrence), numerous grandchildren, sister Ruby in B.C., brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and many friends including a special friend Alan Chanway. Ruth was predeceased by her husband Stanley (1975), a son Randy (1995), her parents, brothers, Arthur, Otto, Alf, Ted, Clarence, Stanley, and her sister Freida. Ruth was born in 1923 near Morden, Man. She married Stanley in 1945 and lived most of her life in Winnipeg. Throughout her lifetime Ruth had many interests and hobbies. She loved bowling and curling. Ruth was an avid fan of all sports and a loyal supporter of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. Some of her favourite times were spent cooking, gardening and reading. She was a magician with knitting needles. She enjoyed nothing more than family gatherings, where she insisted on doing all the cooking. It was always worth the wait. Mom loved to laugh, her smile was infectious and she always had a zest for life. She truly was the bond for her family and will be remembered forever. The family would like to express their sincere thanks and appreciation to Dr. Goodman, and the staff at the Health Science Centre, M.I.C.U. and S.I.C.U. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, at 1020 Main Street. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
