DAVID COOPER BATEMAN Accidentally on Friday, September 8, 2000, Dave Cooper Bateman, dearly beloved husband of Michelle (nee Savoie), passed away at the age of 51 years. Dave was born on August 18, 1949, in Winnipeg. He started his working career as an oderly but shortly afterwards moved into sales where he went from selling wood burning stoves to transmissions. He found his niche in the janitorial supply business where he became sales person of the year in Western Canada, which he took great pride in. Dave was a wonderful man who cared deeply for his family, friends and his second family at the Springside Group. Daves famous sense of humour brought everyone closer to him and to one another. He loved his yard and could often be found tending his garden or cleaning the pool. He was a passionate reader and crossword puzzle fanatic and often spent hours at the book store. Life threw Dave many obstacles but he overcame these challenges to become the man we knew and loved. He was predeceased by his mother June Bell (Smith) and father Ian Cooper Bateman. Dave will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Michelle Claudette and his two sons, Christopher of Winnipeg and Jeffrey (Jamie) of Halifax; brother Neil (Frieda) niece Erin and nephew Kyler. He is also survived by Rene Savoie, Janet Miller and Brian Quinn, Robert and Karen, Paul and Carole; nieces, Chantale, Brittany, Stephanie and nephews, Scott, Wayne and Christopher. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 14, at 2:30 p.m. at the Westworth United Church, 1750 Grosvenor at Lanark with viewing held from 1:30 p.m. until time of service, Rev. Clark Saunders presiding. Service to terminate at the church with cremation to follow. Pallbearers will be Erin Bateman, Kyler Bateman, Scott Miller, Pete Stratman, Jim Parsons and Brent Yorke. Ushers will be Jay, Kent, Kelly and Ken. In lieu of flowers, for those who so wish, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Foundation, 102 - 310 Broadway, Winnipeg, Man., R3C 0S6.
