Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMARTIN DREWNIAK Martin Drewniak, beloved husband of Jean, passed away peacefully at his home on September 8, 2000 at the age of 79 years. Martin leaves to mourn his passing and to cherish his memory his loving wife, Jean; his family, Diane (Glen) Dong, Connie Ruttle (Wayne), Randy Kalika; his grandchildren, Sean (Sandra) Ruttle, Jarrett (Lorissa) Dong and Ryan Dong; his sisters, Teanie and Nellie; as well as several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and nephews. Martin was predeceased by his parents, Andruch and Maryna Drewniak; a brother, Walter and sisters, Katherine, Sophie, Anne and Nettie. Martin was born on December 17, 1920 in Tolstoi, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Tolstoi. After his schooling he continued to work on the family farm. He moved to Winnipeg in the mid 1950s, where he worked in various jobs. Eventually, he landed a job with Duchon Neon where he worked until his retirement in 1975. Martins life long passion was baseball, and his favorite team was the Blue Jays. He will be remembered as an excellent player, who played all positions. He also enjoyed shopping, putting on garage sales, and going for coffee at the Garden City Shopping Centre with his many friends. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 14 at 12:30 p.m. from Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. with interment to follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations in Martins memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society, 120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 or to the Juvenille Diabetes Foundation, 200-900 St. James St., Winnipeg, MB R3G 3J7.
