LAURENT (LARRY) CLAUDE GIGUERE December 10, 1931- September 11, 2000 Peacefully on September 11 at the St. Boniface General Hospital, devoted husband, father, grandpa and friend, Laurent Claude Giguere went to his reward in heaven. Left to mourn his loss are his wife of 48 years, Irene (Hewko) his five children, Deborah (Stuart Harrison), Claude (Joan), Theresa (Bob) Courchaine, Raymond (Roseline) and Annette; his 11 grandchildren whom he adored, David, Adam, Paul, Naomi, Nicole, Kevin, Aimee, Melanie, Danika, Jana, and Alayna; his stepmother, Suzanne Giguere; brother Maurice; sisters, Jacqueline, Dolores and JoAnne. He was predeceased by his mother Annette (1931), his father Albert (1965), his stepmother and father, Corinne (1975) and Thomas Dugas (1946), stepsister, Marguerite Dugas (1962). Born in Pontiex, SK on December 10, 1931 to Annette (Rousseau) and Albert Giguere, he came to Winnipeg in his teenage years. His career began at Stovels (Advocate) where he met Irene. He then moved on to Hignell Printing, Duhas and then finally leaving to pursue his passion, beekeeping. Dad was an avid beekeeper for 40 years, operating Giguere Honey Farms. At first it was a hobby and then his full time career. He received many awards for his prize winning honey. Dad was "Jack" of all trades, building both homes that we lived in, always there to lend a helping hand. Volunteering was another gift that Dad possessed. He spent many nights and days as a cub leader, on building committees for Christ the King Church and gym along with many other projects. He was President of the Lennox Club, The Red River Apiarist Association. He looked forward to his Tuesday nights out calling Bingo. He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for more years than we know about. They were in on the ground floor when The Forks was in the planning stages, selling honey and candles on weekends. Dad purchased a Poultry Shop "Giguere Honey Farms", which enabled him to market his honey on a daily basis. A few years later they purchased the flower shop "Giguere Flowers." And amongst all this raising a family. We are sure going to miss you Dad. Pallbearers will be Paul Giguere, Stuart Harrison, Maurice Giguere, Kevin Courchaine, Jerry Brick and Wilf Theberge. A special thank you to the staff in MICU, 5A (especially Kathy and Brenda) for their care and compassion during Dads last three weeks. Prayers will be said on Thursday, September 14 at 7:00 p.m. in Christ The King Roman Catholic Church, 847 St. Marys Road. Mass of the Resurrection will be held on Friday, September 15 at 10:00 a.m. also in Christ The King Roman Catholic Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Green Acres Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, please send your donation to Cancer Care Manitoba or a charity of your choice. LIFE IS A HIGHWAY Life is a Highway on which the years go by... Sometime the hills are HIGH...
