MILDRED ESTHER LINDSAY Peacefully on September 11, 2000 at the Grace Hospital, with her family by her side, Mildred passed away at the age of 100 years. Mildred leaves to cherish her memory her loving son John, daughter Dorothy (Ernie) Browne and daughter Evelyn (Jim) Allan; five grandchildren, Bill (Ann) Allan of Williamstown, ON, Valerie (Kevin) Reeve of Winnipeg, Dr. Don (Lorraine) Allan of Winnipeg, Debbie (Bob) McEwen of Squamish, BC and Cathy (Ron) Goriak of Winnipeg; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, including Doreen Lavin, a niece from Ireland who attended her 100th birthday. Mildred was born in Lakota, ND on May 31, 1900, the youngest daughter of Tom and Esther Reynolds. In 1903, the family moved to Neepawa where she finished school. She came to Winnipeg to work. Mildred married Percy Lindsay in 1922 in Maryland United Church and together they raised three children. She was predeceased by her loving husband in October, 1948. Mom loved to travel and was an avid gardener. She enjoyed playing the piano and organ. A birthday party was held for her on June 25, 2000 to celebrate her 100th year and she said it was one of the happiest days of her life. She had enjoyed good health until just two weeks ago, for which the family were so grateful for. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 15 at 1:00 p.m. in the Leatherdale Gardiner Funeral Chapel, 1858 Portage Ave. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the nurses and staff for their wonderful care. Flowers gratefully declined.
