ELIZABETH CARFRAE "BESSIE" MENLOVE Wednesday, September 13, 2000, on her 97th birthday, Bessie Menlove, nee Hall, died at Central Park Lodge Poseidon. The beloved wife of the late Maurice Menlove, she was predeceased by her sister Sarah and grandson John. She is survived by her son Bruce and daughter-in-law Tanis; grandchildren, Mark, Sandy, Meredith (Paul) Vogt, Peter and great-grandson Andrew Vogt. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1903, she came to Canada with her parents and sister in 1907. She attended school in Winnipeg and apprenticed as a milliner with the T. Eaton Co. Following in her fathers footsteps, she was active in musical circles in the city, participating in the Winnipeg Musical Festival as a soloist and a member of the Winnipeg Choral Society. Married in 1927, she moved to Carberry in 1932 where she and her husband operated a general store and took an active roll in the community until moving back to Winnipeg in 1944. She was employed at Bernice Lindsay Milliners until her retirement. She and her husband were members of Knox United Church. She was a resident of Central Park Lodge, Poseidon Bay at the time of her death. We wish to thank the staff of C.P.L. 5th floor for giving Bessie such tender loving care. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Neil Bardal Funeral Chapel, 984 Portage Ave. at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 19. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the Manitoba Cancer Society. "If there is another world, she lives in bliss If there is none, she made the best of this."
