Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAVIS BLEASDALE Suddenly, on September 13, 2000 while in her sleep at her home in Steinbach, Mavis peacefully slipped away from this world. It is appropriate that her favourite saying now speaks for itself: "The Measure Of Life, After All, Is Not Its Duration, But Its Donation." Mavis will be sadly missed by Thomas, her husband of 46 years; sons, Christopher and Keith (Pam) brother Brian (Ann) Patterson of Heysham, England; sister Doreen (Frank) Holmes of Burnley, England; and grandchildren, Crystal, Sean, Brent, Justin and Aric. Mavis was born in England on November 22, 1934. After graduation, she became a student nurse at the Royal Albert Hospital, earning her diploma in 1965. Mavis and Tom then decided to immigrate to Canada in 1967. On arrival in Canada, Mavis was employed as a Psychiatric Nurse at the Health Sciences Centre and remained in their employ for 28 years. As an avid gardener, after her retirement, they moved from Winnipeg to Steinbach, buying a five acre property, which became her full time hobby. That hobby now stands in remembrance of all the love and caring that she donated to her passion for her own "Garden of Eden". MISS ME - BUT LET ME GO When I come to the end of the road And the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom-filled room Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long And not with your head bowed low, Remember the love that we once shared Miss me - but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take And each must go alone, Its all a part of the Masters plan A step on the road to home. When you are lonely and sick of heart Go to the friends we know; And bury your sorrow in doing good deeds Miss me - but let me go. At Maviss request, cremation has take pace. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, September 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Loewen Funeral Chapel, Number 12 Highway South, Steinbach, Man. In lieu of flowers, friends so wishing may make donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Arrangements entrusted to Loewen Funeral Chapel of Steinbach.
