KATHERINE KOZAK Peacefully on Wednesday, September 13, 2000 at Victoria General Hospital, Katherine passed away at the age of 80 years. Kay will be missed by her sons, Nick and Gerry (Randi) grandsons, Jamie and Lindsey; sisters, Mary, Genie (Joe), Minnie (Joe), Stephanie (Arni) and brother Peter (Diane) as well as numerous nieces and nephews and neighbours. She was predeceased by her parents, Peter and Anna Dackow; and husband Nicolaus Kozak on July 20, 1990. Katherine was born in Kalnikow, Poland on May 8, 1920 and came to Canada in 1929. She met many challenges while living and raising a family in Northern Ontario and later while working as a chef in Winnipeg. Kay will always be remembered for her care of family and grandsons, her very green thumb, her needlework, her curiosity and zest for life. Her grandsons will always remember and admire her toughness. Special "Thanks" to Dr. O. Domke and the staff at Victoria Hospital. Viewing will be held on Sunday, September 17 between 7:00 and 8:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 18 at 2:30 p.m., also at Cropo Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in Glen Eden Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Jamie Kozak, Lindsey Kozak, Lorraine Derry, Barry Chikowski, Don Holowchuk and Ed Basaraba. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations may be made in Katherines memory to The Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 2B7 or a charity of choice.
