Date of Passing: Sep 14, 2000
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOHN ALWYN (JACK) CHAMBERS Peacefully, on Thursday, September 14, 2000, passed away at the Grace General Hospital at the age of 81 years. Jack is survived by his loving wife Irene; daughter-in-law Trina; grandson David and Davids mother Sherron and his nephew Richard Clancy. He was predeceased on Monday, September 11, 2000 by his son Bryan, his parents Evelyn and Harold Chambers and sister Katherine. Jack will be sadly missed by his extended family of friends and neighbours on Berkley Street, including members of The Grumpy Old Mens Club and his faithful dog Max. As a long-term member of the Rotary Club of Winnipeg West, Jack will be remembered by many current and former Rotarians. Jack served for six years in the R.C.A.F. retiring as a flight lieutenant after being stationed in the United States, Newfoundland and Overseas during the Second World War. After articling with Millar MacDonald & Co., he built his own firm of chartered accountants which will be celebrating its 50th anniversary on May 1, 2001. He enjoyed tearing apart and rebuilding things, always seeking to perfect those that he felt passionate about; his cottage at Eleanor Lake, his home on Berkley Street, several vehicles and each and every computer program which he personally created for over thirty years. Special thanks go to Harry and Jean Monk for providing a second home for his passion with computers, to Lorne and Irene Siemens for sharing their family, their fence and their friendship for many years, and to Michael and Gail Philley and family for the continuing support and friendship that they have provided to both Jack and Irene, particularly in recent years. Donations in lieu of flowers may be given to The Winnipeg West Rotary Charitable Trust or to The Deer Lodge Centre Foundation. A service to celebrate Jacks life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 25, at Bardal Funeral Chapel, 843 Sherbrook Street. BARDAL FUNERAL HOME 843 Sherbrook Street, 774-7474
