MARIE SERENE LEODA LAFRENIERE Marie Serene Leoda Lafreniere, of Brandon, passed away suddenly on Friday, September 15, 2000 in Brandon, Manitoba. Marie was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba on August 17, 1936. She was a kind, gentle loving woman who throughout the years touched so many lives. An active member of the community, Marie could be found playing cards, kicking up her heels at clogging class, driving half way across the country to visit a friend in need or spending time with family, friends and grandchildren. Words pale in comparison to the great gifts of herself that she gave to others. Marie was a single parent who not only raised and educated two fine children but also opened her heart and her home to many foster children over the years, all of whom she loved as her own. Marie worked as a waitress at Kokonas Restaurant for 21 years, retiring from there three years ago. She will be remembered by all as a person who had a zest for living, lived life to the fullest and enjoyed all the blessings that God gave to her. She had a beautiful soul and loved without boundaries. Marie will be sadly missed, but forever remembered by her daughter Monique; son Marcel (Lori) granddaughters Meghan and Ashley; brother Benoit (Anne) Brunelle; sister Jeanette (David) Doll and her soul mate John Poh. Prayers will be held at the Brockie Donovan Chapel on Wednesday, September 20, 2000 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Augustines Roman Catholic Church on Thursday, September 21, 2000 at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. Leo Fernandes as Celebrant. Private family interment will follow in the Rosewood Memorial Gardens. If friends so wish, donations in memory of Marie may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 203-42 McTavish Ave. E., Brandon, MB R7A 2B2, or to any childrens charity. Arrangements are in care of Brockie Donovan, 1-800-897-5694. "Mom, may God cradle you in his arms and grant you peaceful rest."

  • Hey Grandma, I know you're still watching over me... I keep being drawn to this web page on weird dates... Last time it was August 17, and now today, September 21st. Your birthday and your memorial day. We sure miss you, and I think about you a lot. I'm pretty sure you would be impressed by this little kiddo I have, he's amazing! He could charm the apples off an apple tree. I promise I will leave an amazing legacy behind too, just like what is written above. I will make a difference to people around me too. ❤️ Love you forever and always! - Posted by: Meghan Stouffer (Granddaughter) on: Sep 22, 2021
