NORAH STONES 1909 - 2000 Passed away peacefully in hospital, after a brief illness, September 17, 2000. Norah was born on St. Crispins Day to Alice and Enoch Howells in the town of Walkden, Lancashire, England. She was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edwin, and by two daughters, Maureen and Enid. A strong but generous matriarch, she will be sorely missed by daughters, Jennifer Banks (Jim), Hazel Sinclair and sons, Keith and David (Mireille). She leaves behind ten grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A consummate home-maker and gardener, she proudly maintained her independence and private residence until the time of her death. Sincere gratitude to Doctors Sharon Barker and J. Malmstrom for their solicitous care of Norah during her final days. Many thanks also to staff of Home Care and St. Boniface Hospital. Cremation has taken place and her remains will be placed with those of Edwin following graveside prayers at 2:00 p.m., Friday, September 22 at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., Winnipeg (south of the Winnipeg Mint). Flowers are gratefully declined. "and did those feet in ancient time walk upon Englands mountains green and was the holy lamb of God on Englands pleasant pastures seen" - William Blake.
