MARY LOUISE ATCHISON (nee MACOOMB) Peacefully, at Misericordia Place, Monday, September 18, 2000, after a lengthy illness and recent stroke, Mary passed away with her daughters at her side. Mary was predeceased by her beloved husband, Clare Atchison in 1993; her parents, and her brother Bob. She leaves to mourn, her daughters, Nancy, Joanne Holowec, and Mary Louise Wilkinson and her husband Greg; grandchildren, Chris, Jamie and Jennifer Wilkinson, Michael, Ainsley (Daryl Champagne) and Erin Holowec; their father Bill Holowec; and her great-grandson, Tyler Champagne, as well as cousins, nieces and nephews. Mary was born on June 15, 1919 in Winnipeg. She attended the University of Manitoba where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree. While working in Montreal she met Clare, and they married in 1945. Mary became a member of the Junior League soon after her marriage, and later joined the St. Agnes Guild at Childrens Hospital. She made many lifelong friendships while volunteering her time and talents for these organizations. Mary was an avid bridge player and met weekly with a group of dear friends for over 50 years. The family wishes to express our deep appreciation for the compassionate care given to our mother over the past several years. Special thanks to Dr. R. McCammon, Dr. M. Mysore; Evelyne, Irene, Sarah and Yvonne from We Care Health Services. Also the doctors and staff at Grace Hospital, Victoria Hospital and Misericordia Health Centre; and most recently, Lionel and the wonderful staff of the 3rd floor at Misericordia Place. There will be a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 21 in the Thomson Funeral Chapels, 669 Broadway. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Chris, Jamie, Mike and Erin, her son-in-law Greg and his nephew, Ken Bell. Honorary pallbearers are Jennifer, Ainsley and Daryl. If friends so desire, donations may be made in Marys memory to the Canadian Marfan Association (for her granddaughter Jennifer), 128 Queen St. S., P.O.
