MARY ELIZABETH SHREEVES On September 17, 2000, Mary Elizabeth Shreeves (nee Leigh) died suddenly at the age of 71 at the University Hospital. She will be sadly missed by her husband of almost 49 years, George; her three daughters, Linda and her husband Carson Porteous of Argyle, MB, and their daughters, Tara, Mandy and Erin, Christine Edwards and her son Evan of Winnipeg, MB, and Peggy and her husband Dave Nassichuk of Creston, BC; her sisters-in-law, Nora Belley of Edmonton and Fern Henry of Calgary; as well as many other relatives and friends. Mary was born on July 18, 1929. She was predeceased by her father Sydney in 1971, her mother Caroline in 1977, and her sister Doris in 1995. Mary loved playing bridge and crib, doing crossword puzzles and watching movies. She was an avid reader and, more recently, listener to her books on tape. She loved the mountains, bowling and boating, her roses and fresh vegetable garden. She loved watching tennis and we know she now has the best seat in the house for all upcoming matches. A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Howard & McBride Chapel of Chimes, 10179 - 108 St., Edmonton, with Rev. George Morris officiating. A private interment will take place at a later date in Cochrane, AB. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind, 12010 Jasper Ave., Edmonton, AB T5K 0P3, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 10985 - 124 St., Edmonton, AB T5M 0H9. HOWARD & McBRIDE CHAPEL OF CHIMES, (780) 422-1141, EDMONTON, ALBERTA.
