GORDON HAROLD KOPP It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Gordon Harold Kopp, on September 16, 2000 at the Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern. Gordon was born October 20, 1938 in Winnipeg and grew up on the family farm near Moosehorn. In 1956 at the age of 18, he went to work in Winnipeg at Manitoba Cold Storage. In 1963, with his partner Al Renn, he purchased a Shell Service station. In 1965 he married Albertine (Abby) Schmidt. In 1968 he left the service station and worked for Safeway and joined Deluxe Messenger in 1971. In 1974 Gordon left Winnipeg to pursue his true passion of farming by purchasing a small farm near Moosehorn, from which he never really retired. In 1973 Gordon was diagnosed with diabetes and began a lifelong battle with this disease. Although he fought long, hard and valiantly, the complications of diabetes became in the end insurmountable. He died much too young and will be sadly missed. He will be missed by his beloved wife Abby, sons, Gordon Jr. (Debera) of Calgary, Albert of Calgary, Paul (Liz) of Winnipeg, Phillip of Calgary, and Erick (Joelle) of Moosehorn, and granddaughters, Amber and Cassandra. He also leaves to mourn his mother Hedwig, brothers, Otto and Alvin (Dianne) and family, sisters, Caroline (Albert), Ellen (Stan) and family, and Dorothy. He also leaves to mourn his mother-in-law Elisabeth Schmidt, brother-in-law, Fred (Erika) and family, Art (Barb) and family, and nephew John (Loralie) and family, plus numerous other relatives, close friends and caring neighbours. Gordon was predeceased by his father Otto and sister-in-law Lilly Marshall. Funeral service will be held on Friday, September 22 at 2:00 p.m. in the Peace Lutheran Church, Moosehorn, with Rev. Donna J. Smalley officiating. Interment to follow in the New Home Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ted Fuchs, Norman Mantik, Reg Bauch, Lloyd Bauch, Hubert Stark and Robert Hoehn. Friends and relatives may pay their respects from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 21 at Arnasons Funeral Home in Ashern. Viewing also at the church prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 102-310 Broadway Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3C 9Z9. Arrangements by ARNASONS FUNERAL HOME Ashern - Lundar 768-2072
