CLIFFORD (CLIFF) ARCHIBALD MORRISON Surrounded and comforted by his family, Cliff passed away peacefully on Monday, September 18, 2000 at Concordia Place. He will be forever remembered by Lucy, his wife of 53 years; daughter Betty (Murray) Somers; son Jim (Cathie) grandchildren, Michael and Shelley Siwak, Marcy (Ken) Doerksen, Mandie and Kevin Somers; great-grandson River; and sister Jean (Al) Heuchert of Coquitlam, B.C. He was predeceased by his daughter Shirley Siwak in 1993; his parents, Archie and Annie Morrison; brother Bill and sister Eilleen. Cliff was born in Treherne, Manitoba on April 23, 1915. He served as a Gunnar in the Second World War from 1940 - 1945, stationed in England, Italy, and Africa. Upon his discharge he worked for the CPR from 1946 to 1970, retiring early due to ill health. He was a proud lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #9, serving as welfare officer, sick visitor and social convener. He belonged to the Wildlife, Fishing and over 60 clubs, and was always willing to help in any and every way. Cliff met and married the love ofhis life, Lucy, in 1947. He was a devoted family man who attended every sporting event his children and grandchildren were involved in. He was especially proud of his great-grandson River, whose visits brought him great joy and a smile to his face. He shared his passion for fishing and camping with his wife Lucy. Right up to the time he lost the use of his legs, he and Lucy spent every summer trolling the shores of Otter Falls for hours each day. The funeral service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. on Thursday, September 21, at 3:00 p.m. Viewing will be hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will be held in the Chapel Lawn Reception Centre following the service. Pallbearers will be his son Jim; grandson Mike; Murray Somers, Cliff Anderson, Darryl Grapko and Ken Doerksen. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to Cancer Care Manitoba. The family wish to thank the staff at Middlechurch Nursing Home (especially Carol) and Concordia Home for their compassionate care extended to Cliff, especially in the last few weeks.
