DORIS MAE PICKARD (nee COULSON) Doris Pickard died peacefully on Sunday, September 17, 2000 at the Grace Hospital. Doris was predeceased by her husband George Pickard in 1984. She is survived by her daughter Barbara Daly (James) and her son William Pickard (Marg) grandchildren, Timothy Daly (Berrin), Robin Flynn (Brian), Jeffrey Daly (Calla), Brian Daly, and Kelly Pickard (Lora) and great-grandchildren, Jessica and David Flynn, Christopher and Thomas Daly and Kyle and Sean Daly. Doris was born in 1908 and just recently celebrated her 92nd birthday. She graduated from the University of Manitoba in 1929 and liked to reminisce about playing for the Bison Basketball team against the Edmonton Grads. Doris throughout her life utilized her artistic ability and fine colour sense in handicrafts of all kinds. She served as Shop Chairman of the Craft Guild of Manitoba on Kennedy Street for many years, was elected president and was presented in later years with a lifetime membership. In all she attended, she displayed determination and tenacity and set an example for all her family. Cremation has taken place, and a family service will be held on a future date.
