KATHLEEN (KAY) LOUISE HESSIAN (nee CORBY) Kathleen Louise (Kay) Hessian passed away on July 26, 2000 at the age of 91 in Rochester Minnesota, USA. Kay was born May 8, 1909 in Winnipeg. As a young child her parents and family moved to Cooks Creek where she grew up and attended public school. As a teenager, Kay returned to Winnipeg to work and attend high school. In 1931 to 1932 during the summer months she worked at the Banff Spring Hotel. In September 1932 Kay entered the Misericordia General Hospital for nurses training. She graduated as a R.N. in 1935. Kay worked for two years at the Misericordia Hospital in the operating room. In 1937 she moved to Rochester, MN. to work as a private duty nurse at the Colonial Hospital. In 1940 she returned to Winnipeg and married Tom P. Hessian on October 25, 1940. Her husband predeceased her in 1956. Kay returned to Rochester to work as a private duty nurse at St. Marys and Methodist Hospitals and for 10 years worked as a nurse in a private home. Kay was a member of St. Johns Catholic Church. Survivors include a brother Joseph Corby of Toronto. She was predeceased by her parents Marya and Ludwig Korby (Corby) and her three sisters, Anastasia Trylinski, Sophie (Black) Serna and Mary Duda. Kay is survived by many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 23 at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church, Cooks Creek, Man., officiated by Father Sebastian Gacki. Burial to follow at St. Michaels Roman Catholic Church Cemetery.
