VERA MAY IVES (THORNE)

VERA MAY IVES (nee THORNE) Peacefully on September 19, 2000, at the age of 88 years, dear mother and grandmother passed away at the Victoria General Hospital. Vera was born November 28, 1911, at Godshill, Isle of Wight, to Harriet and William Thorne. She was predeceased by her husband Denis Ives in 1971. They were married in 1946. The family came to Canada in 1967. Vera is survived by her five children, Anthony (Lona), Wayne (Sarah), Deborah (best friend Jerry), David (DEtta), Diane (John) and eleven grandchildren, Charlotte, Dale (Kris), Andre, Adrienne, Brendon, Melanie, Alexandra, Tristan, Aaron, Jesse and John Christian and relatives in the United Kingdom. Mothers joy in life was spending time with family and close friends, especially Marina and her family. Her hobbies were her garden (until recently) and reading, particularly anything pertaining to the Royal Family. At mothers request, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 24, at Worldwide Church of God, 50 Barnes St., at 3:00 p.m. The family expresses our heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Victoria General Hospital for their compassion, thoughtfulness and tender care.
