Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryHOWARD DUNFIELD Howard Dunfield, of Calgary, passed away at the Rockyview General Hospital on Friday, September 15, 2000, after a brief illness. Howard was born at Swan Lake, Man., raised in Carberry, Man., and educated at Brandon College, McMaster University and UBC, acquiring degrees in Arts and Education. He taught in Manitoba, at Elgin, Melita and Pine Falls before becoming a School Inspector in Gilbert Plains, Brandon and Winnipeg. He entered the Manitoba Department of Education as Chief School Inspector, attaining the position of Associate Deputy Minister of Education, a post he retired from in 1977. Howard was a sports enthusiast, actively enjoying golf and curling. He was a member of the Wildewood Club, Fort Garry United Church and the Masonic Lodge Scottish Rite. In 1980 he moved to Victoria where he was involved in Gordon Head United Church, Meals on Wheels and Lodge activities. He was predeceased by his brother Harry in 1980 and by his wife Mary in 1984. Five years ago, Howard moved to the Fanning Centre in Calgary where he was an active participant in many activities and groups, particularly the Social Action Committee and the Debating Society. He is survived by his two children, son John, his wife Shirley, grandchildren, Lindsay and Kevin; and daughter Bonnie, her husband Blair, grandchildren, Michael, Kara, Patrick, Kelly and Colleen; great grandchildren, Richard, Carrie, Erin and Holly. A Memorial Service will be held at the Fanning Centre (722 16th Ave. N.E., Calgary), on Saturday, September 23, at 10:30 a.m. Flowers are gratefully declined; if friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to Carewest Development Council, Dr. Fanning Centre #3 West, 1070 McDougall Rd.
