DONALD LEMON Peacefully, on the morning of September 20, 2000 Donald Grant Lemon, a resident of the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, went to join his heavenly family. Don was predeceased by his wife Beatrice; parents, John and Laura Ann; brothers and sister, Gordon, Fred, Bruce and Laura. Left to cherish Dons memory is his sisters, Maudie Gingles of Winnipeg, Nellie Lemon of Thunder Bay; many nieces and nephews. Don was born in Hamiota, Manitoba in 1911, spending many a happy hour investigating the birds and animals of that area. Don moved with his family to Winnipeg in 1926. He attended Daniel McIntyre where he graduated grade 12. He attended Teachers College and received his degree. He then worked for Dominion Furniture for 2 years. Don then applied for a position with the Hudsons Bay Co. and was transferred to northern Saskatchewan. He returned to Wpg. where he married his beloved Beatrice. Don joined the 38th battalion in Winnipeg and served 5 years overseas in the defense of his country. Returning home he took up a position of teaching at Grandin School. Realizing teaching was not for him, he joined Canada Post and served faithfully in many capacities for 25 years. Dons real passions in life, which he devoted much of his spare time to, was gardening, archeology, poetry and bird watching. Watching the geese fly south for the winter and return in the spring always gave him a thrill. Don will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him, never a complainer, he was genuinely concerned about his fellow man. A Service of Remembrance will be held at a later date, for more information please call 895-0764. Donations in Dons memory can be made to a charity of ones choice since flowers are gratefully declined. Sincere thank you to the staff at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for the T.L.C. showered upon Don. P. COUTU & CO. FUNERAL DIRECTORS 156 Marion Street 949-4864
