WILLIAM (BILL) ANDREW PARYPA After a courageous battle with cancer, Bill passed away Friday, September 15, 2000 at the age of 61. Bill was born on March 7, 1939 in Hamiota, MB. He grew up on a farm at McConnell, MB and received his education at Holylea and McConnell schools. As a young man, Bill drove a gravel truck, worked for Strathclair area farmers and also worked for one year in the nickel mine in Thompson. In 1961, he married Lois Baker and they moved to Souris, MB, where she taught school and he worked for Will and Bea Seeds, as well as working for Mutual of Omaha selling insurance. In 1963, they moved to the Strathclair area and then bought a farm in 1967, where they resided until his death. Over the years, Bill was involved with Minor Hockey and 4-H Calf Club, as well as pursuing other interests such as becoming an A.I. Technician and an Emergency First Responder. He and Lois also started a U-Pick strawberry farm. He enjoyed building machinery, with some of his most interesting projects being an air seeder, a straw spreader and even a motor home. Some of his most memorable times were spent with friends hunting, fishing, tasting his home-made wine, or just visiting over a cup of coffee. He was predeceased by his parents, Mike Parypa and Hazel Bidoczka Parypa. He will be greatly missed and always remembered by his wife Lois; daughter Karyn; son Mark and brother John, as well as numerous other relatives and friends. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Rubinger, Joanne and all of the nurses at the Health Sciences Centre. A memorial service was held at Strathclair United Church on September 19 with Rev. Bob Hunter officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Cancer Care Manitoba Foundation, 100 Olivia St., Room ON 109, Winnipeg, MB, R3E 0V9, or the Shoal Lake-Strathclair Health Centre, Palliative Care Fund, Shoal Lake, MB.
