CATHERINE CATHIE MACKIE DOPSON Mrs. Catherine Cathie Mackie Dopson, of Cranbrook, passed away peacefully at the Rocky Mountain Lodge on Wednesday, September 20, 2000 at the age of 80 years. Cathie was born on November 30, 1919 in Dundee, Scotland and at the age of 6 months, emigrated to Winnipeg with her family. She received her education in Winnipeg. On June 28, 1975, Cathie was married to Lloyd Dopson and they lived in Winnipeg until 1984 when they moved to Cranbrook. Cathie worked with the Workers Compensation Board in Manitoba until she retired in 1983. She was a member of the Cranbrook United Church and the U.C.W. With her love for music and singing, Cathie was a member of the Melodiers and the K.C. Singers. Cathie leaves to mourn her loving husband Lloyd; her son Mr. Justice Thomas Melnick and daughter-in-law Meredith Melnick of Cranbrook; two step-sons, Ken of Coquitlam, Richard of Vancouver, BC; two step-grandchildren, Heather and David; nieces, Marina Fohr, Ann Nori and Cathy Fabbro of Ontario and a nephew Robert Fabbro of New York, U.S.A. Cathie was predeceased by her parents, Thomas Sorley and Catherine Mackie Sorley; by her first husband John Melnick; by her son John in 1963 and a sister May in 1999. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 26 from the Cranbrook United Church at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Jack Lindquist officiating. Cremation preceded the service. In lieu of flowers those wishing to remember Cathie Dopson, may do by donations to the Alzheimer Society of B.C. c/o Joan Wert, Rocky Mountain Lodge, 20-23rd Ave. S., Cranbrook, V1C 5V1. Family arrangements entrusted to the McPherson Funeral Service 426-3132.
