ALBERT SYDNEY RUDDOCK Albert Sydney Ruddock passed away quietly on Saturday, September 16, 2000 at the Seven Oaks Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba following a short illness. Albert was born on Sunday, October 1, 1916 in Grandview, Manitoba to Claire (Cornell) and Bill Ruddock. He was predeceased by his brothers, Bill and Clarence, as well as his sister June. He is survived and mourned by his brother Arthur Ruddock of Kelowna, B.C. and sister Sophie Ruddock of Grandview, MB. Albert also leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 61 years, Freda and his children, Gerald Ruddock of Surrey, B.C., Bonnie Bancroft of Toronto, Carey Ruddock of Winnipeg Beach, MB and also Kristine Kolay of Winnipeg and John McBryan of Los Angeles and their families as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and his friends. Albert was proud to serve in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a navigator in the Second World War. He attended the University of Manitoba and graduated from pharmacy in 1941. From 1945 to 1954 he owned and operated Ruddocks Pharmacy in Bowsman, MB. Albert was also responsible for organizing and coaching a little league baseball team in Bowsman and forming the Royal Canadian Legion in that town. He was Past Master Mason of Branch No. 147 and Past Worthy Patron of the Order of the Evening Star Branch No. 48. Albert moved his family to Winnipeg in 1954 and purchased the St. John Pharmacy which he operated for the next nine years. Albert suffered a stroke in 1965, which paralyzed his left side and he never regained full mobility. It was the quiet dignity and strength with which he accepted this greatest of challenges which we will remember most. He will be honoured and missed. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 25 at 1:00 p.m. at Knysh Funeral Chapel, 1020 Main St. Viewing will take place one half hour prior to the service. Rev. Ingthor I.
