Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGEORGE BIRNIE It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved dad, "Pop", brother and dear friend, on Monday, September 25, 2000. George was born in Petershead, Scotland on January 6, 1916. His family immigrated to the United States and later to Canada. George served in the R.C.A.F. during the Second World War. Upon discharge, he joined the Winnipeg Police Force in 1945 and retired in 1975, having achieved the rank of Sargent of Detectives. George was a devoted member of the Kinsmen Reh-Fit Centre where he established many fine friendships. He had a very kind and gentle manner, a wonderful sense of humour and will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched. George was predeceased by his loving wife, Edna on May 26, 1995. He leaves to mourn his daughters, Carole (Lorne) Seneshen, Marsha (Ron) Wildeman; cherished granddaughters, Jenny, Nicole and Marni; step-granddaughters, Deborah and Susan; his two caring sisters, Joanne (Tom) Kennedy and Dorothy (Norm) McIntosh and numerous nieces and nephews. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 28 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peters Anglican Church, Grant Ave. and Elm St. The family wishes to thank Dr. Mallick and the wonderful nurses of 3 South, Grace Hospital, for their kindness, care and understanding. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Georges memory to the Grace Hospital, the Salvation Army, or a charity of your choice. THOMSON FUNERAL CHAPELS 783-7211
